Guto Harri

Strategic Communications Adviser | Former Director of Communications, No10 Downing Street
London, UK
Biography

Guto Harri is a tough, versatile, and instinctive strategic communications adviser and storyteller. With a career spanning the highest levels of government, global media, and international business, he is widely recognized for his sound judgment and his ability to deliver impact and results in high-pressure environments.

In 2022, Mr. Harri served as the Director of Communications at No10 Downing Street. Hired to lead the government's communications machine through the fallout of 'partygate,' he attended Cabinet and represented the UK at the most senior levels, including meetings with world leaders at NATO, G7, and other diplomatic gatherings.

Prior to his time at Downing Street, Mr. Harri spent years transforming the reputations of major global entities. As Director of Comms and Corporate Affairs for NewsUK, he helped rebuild the reputation of Rupert Murdoch’s UK operations. Later, as Managing Director of External Communications at Liberty Global, he built a coherent narrative for the world’s largest international TV and broadband company.

Mr. Harri’s deep political expertise was forged early in his career as a key strategic adviser to Boris Johnson during his tenure as Mayor of London (2008–2012). He was instrumental in transforming Johnson from a celebrity to a statesman, communicating the successes of the London Olympics and major infrastructure investments.

Before entering the world of corporate and political strategy, Mr. Harri enjoyed an 18-year career with the BBC. He served as Chief Political Correspondent and North America Business Correspondent based in New York, covering wars, revolutions, and elections worldwide. This unique blend of frontline journalism and C-suite advisory gives him a rare perspective on narrative shaping and crisis management.
